Canadian Citizenship Eligibility Requirements


To be eligible to become a Canadian citizen, you must meet the following eligibility requirements.
1)Permanent Resident:- If you applying for citizenship, despite your age, you must be a permanent resident (PR) in Canada and must have met all the terms and conditions of Canadian permanent residency. For being a permanent resident you must not be:-
Must not be under review for immigration or fraud reasons and your PR status must not be in question or have unfulfilled conditions associated to your PR status. Must not be notified and given removal order by the Canadian officials to leave Canada or be prohibited on criminal/ security ground.

Physical Presence In Canada


You must be physically present in Canada for at least (3 years) in the five years before your application singing for your citizenship. Each day spent in Canada as a permanent resident, temporary resident or a protected person will count. Some day spent physically under these statuses before becoming a Canadian permanent resident will be considered as a full day while some will be count as half days. The days that are spent in Canada as permanent residency counts, if you are working in specific federal/provincial jobs and also the days spent outside Canada with your Spouse, common-law partner or permanent resident, common-law partner, or parent employed in federal, province, or territory counts.

Income Tax Filling


Must have filled taxes in Canada under the Income Tax Act, you must have meet your Income Tax filling obligations for at least 3 years at the time of the 5 years precisely before the date you apply.

Language Skill Requirements


Canada have two official languages – English, and French. If you are 18-54 years old on the date of your application signing you must meet the necessary basic requirements which mean you should be able to listen, speak and write in one of these languages. If you are 18-54 years old you must be able to meet the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) Level 4 or higher.
The format of the test is given below:-
• The test is taken for 30 minutes
• 20 questions (which includes multiple choice questions and true/false)
• Available in both languages (English/French)
• Passing Criteria (15 correct answers out of 20 questions)
• The test is usually written but could be oral as well

The requirements for the Minors applying for Canadian Citizenship are conditional, depending upon whether the minor is applying alone or with his/her Canadian parents or parents applying at the same time with them for the Citizenship.
To be eligible for Canadian citizenship for minors, you must:
• Under 18 years of age on the application signing day.
• Must be a permanent resident of Canada.
• Must have at least one parent who is a Canadian Citizen or who will become a citizen at the same time you would be applying together as a family (even when they are your adoptive parents).
• Can’t have any unfulfilled conditions associating to their permanent resident status
• Can’t be asked by Canadian officials and given removal order to leave Canada.
• Can’t be inadmissible/ prohibited on criminal or security grounds.
